BayCare Health System is committed to the communities we serve by training the next generation of physicians through our teaching hospitals, Morton Plant Hospital and Winter Haven Hospital. Our residency programs are a blend of quality hospitals and clinic facilities.

We offer a variety of postgraduate residency programs which train professionals to provide exceptional care to hospitalized and ambulatory patients. Our experienced leaders challenge as well as support the trainees in our current Family Medicine, Sports Medicine and Pharmacy residency program with new Pediatric and Psychiatry Residency programs now forming.

Current Opening: BayCare Medical Group FSU/Winter Haven Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program

BayCare Medical Group (BMG) is a physician-led medical group seeking BC/BE Family Medicine Physicians for core faculty positions in our developing residency program in Winter Haven, Florida. In collaboration with the Florida State University College of Medicine, the primary mission and responsibility of the FSU Family Residency at Winter Haven Hospital and of its faculty is to provide a dynamic, professional learning environment, grounded in the concepts of life-long learning, teaching, quality improvement, evidence-based medicine, and scholarship. Our goal is to recruit and train the next generation of Family Physicians in Florida, Polk County, and the BayCare System. As such, the significant majority of the faculty and residency clinic’s efforts will be devoted to these pursuits.

  • Call is shared with physician members of the entire family medicine department

Academia/Faculty Pediatric Residency Program Director

Current Opening: BayCare Medical Group/Pediatric Residency Program

BayCare Medical Group (BMG), a physician-led medical group, is seeking to employ a Pediatric Program Director. This is an exciting opportunity to get in on the ground floor and become the founding Pediatric Residency Program Director for one of the first BayCare Health System-sponsored residency programs based in Tampa, Florida. We are seeking an experienced leader to design a curriculum that will challenge as well as support its trainees. The program director will be provided with the salary support required for the non-clinical time necessary to administer the program.

The Pediatric residency program director will be welcomed and supported by a very experienced Pediatric and GME leadership team. There is also a multidisciplinary team of experienced pediatricians, social workers, nurses, case managers, child life specialists, and pastoral care, all willing to partner with the new teaching program.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a role model of professionalism
  • Design a pediatric program consistent with the needs of the community, the mission of BayCare, and the mission of the program
  • Administer and maintain a learning environment conducive to educating the residents to each of the ACGME Competencies
  • Build relationships with members of the medical staff and multidisciplinary teams to create an environment where respectful discussion is welcome
  • Participate in clinical activity to role model the core competencies for the faculty and residents

St. Joseph's Children's Hospital is well known throughout the southeast United States as a leader in pediatric heart and cancer care. With 219 beds and 80 pediatric physician specialists representing 25 medical and surgical disciplines, the staff offers the care St. Joseph's Children's Hospital is known for. Parents have the confidence of knowing that the specialized pediatric services offered are further strengthened by St. Joseph's Hospital full-service medical center, including the 24-hour Steinbrenner Emergency/Trauma Center for Children.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of documented educational and/or administrative experience
  • Current certification in Pediatrics by the ABP or AOBP
  • Current medical licensure in the state of Florida or eligible for licensure

Academia/Faculty Psychiatry Residency Program Director

BayCare Medical Group (BMG) is a physician-led group with an exciting opportunity available to get in on the ground floor and become the founding Psychiatry Residency Program Director for one of the first BayCare Health System-sponsored residency programs. We are looking for an experienced leader to design a curriculum that will challenge as well as support its trainees. The program director will be provided with the salary support required for the non-clinical time necessary to administer the program.

The Psychiatry residency program director will be welcomed and supported by a very experienced Behavioral Health and GME leadership team. There is also a multidisciplinary team of experienced psychiatrists, social workers, registered nurses, case managers and mental health technicians anxious to become part of a new teaching program.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a role model of professionalism
  • Design a psychiatry program consistent with the needs of the community, the mission of BayCare, and the mission of the program
  • Administer and maintain a learning environment conducive to educating the residents to each of the ACGME Competencies
  • Build relationships with members of the medical staff and multidisciplinary teams to create an environment where respectful discussion is welcome
  • Participate in clinical activity to role model the core competencies for the faculty and residents

BayCare Behavioral Health offers the largest, full-service community-based health care to the communities it serves. The Psychiatry residency program will be based at the Morton Plant North Bay Recovery Center, an expansion of Morton Plant North Bay Hospital and BayCare Behavioral Health services, located on a picturesque, tranquil 6.5 acres in Lutz, with easy access to all major highways and the Tampa International Airport.

The North Bay Recovery Center is a 72-bed, co-ed facility and is the only free-standing psychiatric hospital in Pasco County and is a Baker Act-receiving facility. There is a Children’s Treatment Center offering both outpatient and a secure inpatient residential program for youth between the ages of 6-18 who require more intensive treatment, structure and supervision than can be offered in an outpatient or community-based residential setting.
